Interviewer: So, you are the one I talked to on the phone correct, you said you know something about the reported Deep Blue incident?
Scientist: Correct, I worked there at the time. After the incident I had to quit due to company policy about contact with the test subjects.
I: Wait, company policy? You just told us you know something about the incident, not that you actually… saw them.
S: I didn’t just see one, I’m pretty sure it attacked me.
I: Well then start from the beginning, and after I will ask questions.
S: /Sigh/ Ok… I’m sure you are aware of the initial incident…
I: The escape
S: …Yes, the escape, this happened only a day after. I worked the night shift, my job that night was a simple one, taking inventory of our samples, materials, anything in our back rooms. Boring job, but I don’t mind it. After the escape they didn’t really tell us about it, the only indication that anything had changed was the main cat was acting a lot different, seemed to have a different personality entirely. But no one thought anything about it and went about their day. It was a few hours into my shift when I was in the storage room that we use for the feline department, it’s a skinny, but long hallway with our imports on one side, and some lockers for people and any samples that don’t need cold storage on the other. I was at the end taking inventory of our samples from the felines when my incident occurred. From the vent above came the latex, it was so viscous and slow that the sounds were indistinguishable from the nearby pipes. It wasn’t until I heard a chuff did I…
I: A chuff?
S: When big cats are excited, they do a chuff, it’s a big cat’s happy noise basically.
I: I see, Continue.
S: When I heard the chuff, I knew something was wrong, its indistinguishable and should never be heard outside of the pens. It’s one of the things we are taught to listen out for. Well, I heard it, and turned to see… well the picture I sent you guys from my phone.
I: Yes, this picture? /Shuffling of papers/
S: Correct, that exit back there was the only way out of the room, and I think the cat knew that.
I: Why would the cat want to trap you though?
S: Well, after this picture was taken is the strange part. The cat and I had a stare down, you could see it was still dripping as it must have come through the vent, and it had a really long tongue that was hanging out of its muzzle for some reason. These Latex Panthers are on a Need-to-Know basis, so I had no clue anything more than the required on them. The stare down was short, the cat started to slowly stalk towards me, and then it ran, and then my memory prior ends.
I: When does your memory return?
S: When I woke up. It was still at night, and I was surprised to not be dead! The cat clearly did something, when I woke up, I had some black fluid in my ear, my whole throat felt weird and tight all the way down to my stomach, my clothes other than my shirt were torn off, and my abdomen felt weirdly full. I was drinking the night before, so I don’t worry about some of it, but probably good to have written down anyways. Of course, I got right up and looked in the mirror of one of the lockers, there was black paw prints on my shoulders and a black trail up the side of my head to my ear… so I think the cat had something to do with that memory loss.
I: Are you trying to insinuate the cat can… modify the minds of people?
S: I don’t think it can just modify; I think it went after me to read mine…
I: Did you ever recover from the other issues that seemed to be caused by the panther?
S: It’s been a week and the rest are still there… based on the signs warning about contact with the goo I don’t want to find out what he did to my insides.
I: What do you think he did?
